Vinted Shoppers Voice Frustration About Size Changes

Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.

The second-hand shopping app has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments without notifying all shoppers about the modification.

Digital Channels Response

Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category than originally posted because of the remapping.

The company said the revised method more closely matches similar services.

It has advised users to examine their items and update the measurements by hand when needed, which has left users frustrated.

Size Classification Updates

Earlier, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.

The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

Member Stories

One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

Another user, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.

Manual Updates

Another shopper, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she stated.

Service Background

The platform boasts over 100 million users, with 18 million British users.

It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
